Paris St-Germain suspends Lionel Messi for two weeks

Paris St-Germain has suspended Lionel Messi for two weeks after he traveled to Saudi Arabia without the club’s permission. Messi, who is the captain of the Argentina national team, made the trip to the Middle East following PSG’s home defeat to Lorient on Sunday. The 35-year-old will not be allowed to train or play with the team during his suspension. It is reported that Messi had requested permission to make the trip for commercial work, but the club denied his request.

Messi has also been fined by PSG, but the details of the fine have not been disclosed. The football star is an ambassador for tourism in Saudi Arabia, which may explain why he was keen to make the trip.

Messi’s two-year contract with PSG is set to expire this summer, and there have been rumors of a possible return to Barcelona. The Spanish club’s vice-president, Rafael Yuste, claimed in March that they were in contact with Messi about a possible return to the Nou Camp.

Since joining PSG, Messi has scored 31 goals and provided 34 assists in 71 games across all competitions. Last season, he helped the team win the Ligue 1 title. With just five games left in the season, PSG is currently five points clear at the top of the table, and they will be hoping to clinch their ninth league title in 11 seasons. However, Messi’s suspension means he will miss the upcoming matches against Troyes and Ajaccio.

The news of Messi’s suspension has caused a stir among football fans, with many wondering what impact it will have on PSG’s performance in the remaining games of the season. Messi’s absence could be a blow to the team’s chances of winning the league title, but PSG has a strong squad, and they will be looking to rally together and secure the championship without their star player.
